VMVC President's Rant

Welcome to the March Edition of the VMVC Newsletter.

Well, I don’t know about you, but since Corowa 09, I have been counting the days ( & CCKW sump bolts & engine studs) until this fantastic event rolls around again, and for me it can't come any quicker!

My Jeep is getting her final pre-Corowa inspection and I’ve been a good lad around the house, cleaning, washing up etc, to keep in the Home Front Commanding Officer's good books until the day comes that l can throw down the mop and put the iron away, take that frilly apron off ( with permission) that she makes me wear, and mount my trusty stead to plough that long, torturous & monotonous Hume Highway to that wonderful Militaria Buffs Paradise “COROWA” ( naturally, pending a final inspection by the Domestic Goddess and an appropriate leave pass!)

I’m sure, this being Year of the Jeep, it will be bigger and better than the previous year, as it always is! And full credit must go to Jan and her team for organizing such a fantastic event for all of us like minded nuffys to gather in the one place and well, just have fun! For me the definition of fun is not blowing up my Jeep this year, like I did my GMC last year…looking forward to seeing all the chaps who did their best to try and fix the GMC, I still think I owe you all a drink or three! If you haven’t been to Corowa before, this is the year to do it. “The Year of the JEEP” will be huge!  Even if you can not make it for the week, treat yourself to a day trip, to be in the parade, pick up bargains at the swap meet (Watch out for Dave) & just view the amazing array of vehicles presented by enthusiasts just like us. If you are an old hand at this well you will know what to expect, I’m looking forward to meeting up with all the VMVC crew for a chat and to hear any ideas that YOU might have to help improve your club.

Moving on to other matters, those of you who still have not paid & renewed your membership fees, you need to do it NOW! From receipt of this news letter you will no longer be financial, and, as required by our club rules, VIC ROADS must be informed of your lapsed membership and your vehicle will be deemed unregistered. I have also instructed the secretary to introduce a $10.00 rejoining fee to cover costs. You are most likely to lose your current membership number and be issued a new one on rejoining. I make no apologies on this hard stance, as we MUST follow the club rules as voted by the members, or the entire VMVC will fall foul of the State licensing & registration authority, the AOMC motoring bodies and our members.

Now, a reminder please. If you haven’t submitted your ANZAC Day forms to Jim Harris, Please do so ASAP! This is an area we need to improve on, in order to take the pressure off the volunteers who do such a brilliant, unsung job in organizing vehicles for the Diggers on their special day, Jim needs numbers NOW!! Please support this 100%.          SUPPORT OUR VETERANS.

Well that’s enough from me for now, ( or so I'm being told by the Camp Kommandant ). Remember, we are always looking for articles and stories to fill the pages of our newsletter, and a big thank you to the few who have been sending in pics and stories via our web site, well done!

Looking forward to seeing you all at Corowa, I’m sure the VMVC will be the best represented Club There!!!

Till then, safe motoring,
