VMVC President's Rant
Hello all and welcome to a new and exciting year for the VMVC!
I hope everyone has come through the festivities without too much drama, (apart from the few extra kilo’s!!) and hopefully all your new year’s resolutions come true, most notably the one where you said you would ―Make an even bigger effort this year to submit an article, story, vehicle profile, etc,‖ to Gordon for inclusion into our News Letter. PLEASE!!
On the above mentioned subject, it’s great to have received a few emails over the Christmas break from members who had a few ideas for the club, such as outings and a possible open day, and also for the News Letter, such as articles on ―Where are they now‖ stories on vehicles that have changed ownership and have left the club or haven’t been seen since! (Remember we need as many as we can get for ANZAC Day!!!)
Whilst I appreciate the influx of emails and ideas that I receive, I find it bewildering that after I respond back thanking them and asking them to provide an article based on the ideas they have submitted, to myself or Gordon, we never hear from them again! Were not that frightening are we?
This year’s Australia Day event should be as big and as hot as previous years, so don’t forget to slip slop slap and bring plenty of refreshments. I always envy the set up that Allan McAlister (who is looking as fit as ever) and his gang from the hills have on the day in Kings Domain, a nice little Marquee set up with a table and chairs and some of Cheryl’s great cheese and biscuit platters to go along with the one or three bottles of wine on offer, a great set up on a fantastic day, WELL DONE!
If you didn’t make it to the clubs end of year Christmas Party, you missed out on a great day! Once again a big thank you to John and Pat Belfield for providing a great place for our get together and also for the display and running of the M113 Fire Support Vehicle that tore up the back paddock for our enjoyment, a great day had by all I’m sure!!
Well that’s all from me for now, PLEASE don’t forget to start sending in your application forms for ANZAC Day participation, we need you! And Corowa, more on that soon,
See you on Australia Day,
Till then, safe motoring,
Gino Di Tella
President VMVC.
